Booken reinvents the idea of a bookcase in a unique, unexpected way, taking into account the evolution of the book in the last years, from physical artifact to e-book. Raw Edges worked on the idea of the book as an object that becomes usable material, transforming and reinventing its function, creating a multifunctional object that serves simultaneously as a side table, shelf and bookcase.
Inspired by the idea that people don't usually re-read the novels they have on their shelves, Raw Edges sought to use books as a support surface. "Obviously they can always be used and read, but simultaneously they assume a new function," Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay point out. A light wooden structure allows all books to be hanged, transforming the bookcase from a vertical element into a horizontal one.

“Creating a tangible texture is one of the challenges when designing ceramics tiles”, state the two young designers. “Looking around us, almost every object has its own particular texture, whether it’s a natural or a handmade material. Rather than designing new textures by ourselves, we have reached a print effect and created our reference tactile library by placing plasticine on objects and materials we thought were interesting. To our surprise , it were the textures taken from textiles which have leaded us to define the new collection Tex. The shape of the tile is a simplified enlargement of the basic knitted stitch: when looking carefully into a knitted textile, a repetition of stitches can be seen aligned in symmetric rows next to each other. This rhombus can be arranged in The collection has ten different colors, each of which contains a group of three shades. This triple shade mixture was inspired as well by textile design, re-creating the feel of the different tones of the yarn. To enhance the surprise effect and to increase the creativity and personalization, the three shades will be placed randomly in the packages; by this, when installing Tex, arbitrary arrangements could be achieved. On the other hand, in addition to the single tiles installation, premade patterns of TEX will be arranged on a mash similarly to mosaics settings. These 40x70cm mashes will allow locating graphic elements in particular places on the wall or on the floor (for instance, as a frame to the room, a central element or a linear pattern). The production of TEX is artisanal and enables a large multiplicity of textures, the verity of colors and the tactile qualities of the glaze. In addition, the colorful and natural glaze applied on a white ceramics creates an irregular effect in certain places, while a more saturated one in others”

It is an elegant small work place, which is excellent for working on a laptop for instance, and it can be retracted to form a closed box, half the size of the table top. The Deskbox represents a new typology in Arco's focus on tables, which is an area of specialisation that sets the company apart from others. Continuous research often leads to new inventions and solutions. This design from Raw Edges originated from the project Arco Okay 2011, where Arco challenged ten designers to develop new ideas, based on the production possibilities of the company. Desk Box is based on the parallel mechanism from earlier sewing boxes, which Arco used to produce a long time ago.

Created in natural ash wood, or with a strip at the base decorated in green, iron grey, cherry-red and China blue colours, the TWB collection comprises a stool and a bench which appears to be crumpled paper: the particular construction procedure and filling of the product renders each piece different from all the others.

Most usually a chest of drawers consists of an exterior frame, back panel and series of individual drawers with runners. The height of the unit is limited to the size of the frame and the drawer can only be opened in one direction. Stack escapes these formal confines through the application of an entirely new arrangement. These individual, multi-coloured, floating drawer units make use of a centrally placed frame. Upon this a tower of drawers that can be pushed and pulled in both directions is built. The random and irregular pattern created by the positioning of the drawers creates a rich and wonderful spectacle of colour and kinetic form. Stack can be appreciated as a sculptural object as well as an entirely functional, practical item of furniture. Stack is offered in two standard sizes and three colour palettes as well as wood veneer finish. The innovative aspect of this cabinet is the fact that the drawers can hinge, making it possible to open both at the same time, which is impossible with a conventional set of drawers.
